Welcome to the wonderful world of dining and entertainment! Northeast Pennsylvania has much to offer and we are pleased to afford you insight into the finest dining places and entertainment venues in NEPA.
FRESNO’s Restaurant & Bar, at 914 Scranton-Carbondale Hwy, in Dickson City, is fast becoming one of our personal favorites. Under the expert guidance of General Manager Joe Dente, the venue offers a wide variety of quality foods, at fair to moderate prices and affords one exceptional service from its bevy of fine servers.
The restaurant, home-based in Syracuse, has been in existence at this location for over 14 years and has become firmly established as one of the top dining spots in the Scranton area. From its variety of appetizers and soups and salads to its specialty fajitas, Fresno’s is a dining experience at its best.
We are particularly impressed with the quality and quantity of its main dishes, particularly the “shrimp and pasta primavera” and the “steak lovers sirloin”. Penne pasta tossed with Alfredo sauce and baked with fresh broccoli, carrots, cauliflower, mushrooms squash, bell peppers and roasted red peppers is topped with Gulf shrimp, tomatoes, Parmesan and Monterey Jack cheeses and is served with a hot biscuit. The more than adequate portion carries a $10.79 price, and is sure to please the most discriminating palate. Over ¾ lb sirloin is flavorful and tender and draws rave reviews. Served with steamed vegetables, a hot buttered biscuit and a choice of potato Southwestern rice or cole slaw. At only $14.99, the sirloin is a steak lovers delight.
In other visits, we have partaken of the Chicken Monterey, Jim Beam Bourbon Salmon, a favorite with our dining companion and a variety of other dishes. Service has been superb and the view affords one a breath-taking panorama of the area, including the lights of the sprawling city below.
Open for lunch and dinner 7 days per week, a Sunday brunch is available from 9 am to 4 pm. Fresno’s bar features a variety of beverages, especially margaritas, frozen specialty drinks and the enormous Texas-size beers.
Catering service is also available and more than ample parking is provided. Overall, we would rate Fresno’s among the best, based on a wide choice of foods, excellent service, cleanliness, overall ambience, and proportionate pricing which is in the moderate level.
Overall staff friendliness and a pleasing and comfortable dining area and bar lends credence to any fine dining establishment and Fresno’s offers all of these amenities.
While we have heard a few complaints, that is to be expected with any establishments. One complaint involved rude response when a patron’s order was not cooked to her satisfaction. Another was predicated on “too much”
noise coming from the kitchen area when a server and cook got into a minor dispute. Aside from that, Fresno’s has received an overwhelmingly favorite rating from others. We have never been on the receiving end of any bad service or food in our several visits to the restaurant and don’t anticipate any. Probably attributable to Joe Dente’s more than capable management, the staff seems to be well-attuned to their mission. Dente seems to be everywhere when an extra hand is needed.
The bar service is equally excellent and drinks are served with a flair and in adequate proportions. The “over-sized” beer mugs are among the more popular attractions.
We highly recommend Fresno’s to our friends and can offer our assurance that you will leave feeling well-satisfied and content! JT
